Field Meeting to Woodhouse Washlands Nature Reserve

Monday May 13th 2024

Woodhouse Washlands is one of the larger nature reserves managed by Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust and aptly extends into both Sheffield and Rotherham.  It follows the course of the River Rother and contains a series of smaller ponds which are frequented by Great Crested Newt and over ten species of Dragonflies and Damselflies.  Barn Owl can also be seen hunting here and Snipe occupies the streams and pools, sharing the habitat with Reed Bunting, Kingfisher and other species.  Goosander has successfully bred on the river for several years.

Join us for an evening walk around this varied and interesting reserve starting at 7pm and meeting outside the Elmwood Farm Public House and Carvery

Alternatively, you can meet earlier at 5.30 pm for a pre-walk meal and drinks at the Elmwood Farm. There is ample car parking

The address of the Elmwood Farm is:

Old Colliery Way, Beighton Link Business Park
Beighton

The pub is straight off the A57 next to the BP garage.  Contact us at rdos@hotmail.co.uk if you need further information

We hope to see you there!
