Field Meeting to Woodhouse Washlands Nature Reserve
Monday May 13th 2024
Woodhouse Washlands is one of the larger nature reserves managed by Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust and aptly extends into both Sheffield and Rotherham. It follows the course of the River Rother and contains a series of smaller ponds which are frequented by Great Crested Newt and over ten species of Dragonflies and Damselflies. Barn Owl can also be seen hunting here and Snipe occupies the streams and pools, sharing the habitat with Reed Bunting, Kingfisher and other species. Goosander has successfully bred on the river for several years.
Join us for an evening walk around this varied and interesting reserve starting at 7pm and meeting outside the Elmwood Farm Public House and Carvery
Alternatively, you can meet earlier at 5.30 pm for a pre-walk meal and drinks at the Elmwood Farm. There is ample car parking
